F Bass BN5 vs BNF5?

They also have different body shapes and different length fretboards (necks). The BNF has an extended treble side cutaway and a 28 position fingerboard. I believe the BNF is discontinued, but there are plenty of used examples around.

The older BNF had a deeper cutaway and longer fretboard that went right up to the neck pickup. Newer ones don't extend as far. The BNF is not listed on their site as a specific model but you can still get the BN with the fretless option. I'm not sure if that results in a different body shape, but Marcel will respond if you email him.
Damn, those basses are soo nice. I really want to get a BN5 at some point in my life seeing as they're kind of local to me.

One comment as an AC owner. The BNF has a more compressed sound than the AC. I cannot explain all the reasons; the BNF had a metal bridge (as I recall) and may have had less chambering than the AC. Both spectacular instruments, but different. @Marcel Furlanet can likely explain it better than I can. He tried to explain it to me once....
I am in TO next week and plan to make the pilgrimage to Fbass headquarters while I am there. The objective will be to get out of there without a new bass...or with one...LOL
I'm only like 45min away from their hq so I really have no excuse for not going there yet but I really do want to change that soon. Pretty sure the guitar player in my band has a connection with someone there so maybe I could even get a bit of a discount? Probably not but one can dream.
I have an older F-Bass BN-5 with some ridiculous wood i got used. It is so beautiful and comfortable to play and i'm not a 5r guy. I really would love a BN5F if your in the background thinking about parting with one. George is a Wizard and Ron Moreno was the guy in LA that put them on our radar in the 90's. Very special basses.
Cool to hear and congrats on having a wonderful bass. I guess I should have been more specific that if you chose options such as the Hipshot A bridge and perhaps a few others, then you would be moving to the BNF sound. The bass builder on the F bass site only shows the figured maple body available on the ACs, so I guess the Alder and Ash body of the BNF would not be possible to replicate, though perhaps it could be custom ordered direct.
I had only one opportunity to play a BNF, when I purchased my BN6 about 20 years ago. Cool bass. It would be nice to have one, it was a wonderful bass.
Loving my F-AC5 and can confirm that with two pick-ups and piezo, it can get a thick, rocking sound. Very happy with it.
I have both. BNF5 is obviously fretless, with an ebony fingerboard, deep cutaway and 28 fret positions. The body has alder wings with a center maple tone block. The body doesn't have the BN5 'hump' at the right strap button. You can get any bridge you choose, including the AC wood type. I have the aluminum Hipshot type. I am so pleased with mine, it has the classic Fender tone but 'richer'. The ergonomics and playability are exquisite. it's probably my all-time favorite bass.
