F1 / Formula 1 / Formula One -> 2019 season

I attended some of the old IMSA series races back in the 80's. Those were pretty fun to watch. I sure hope Indy car doesn't do a F1 halo job, I don't really see the point to it. At least they got rid of those hideous rear fender things, they look good now and are safe as any race car can be at 230 mph.

Indycar is going with the Red Bull windscreen concept rather than the halo. And yeah, the rear "bumpers" were an aberration for sure. They just need about another 150 horsepower and they'll be pretty decent race cars. I think there's a good chance that'll happen. But in all honesty, I think the VW Pike's Peak car from last year is the coolest thing I've seen in a while.

My 7.4 liter Camaro is a hybrid..... It burns gas and rubber. :D

I tried to watch the Formula E coverage from NYC today... I didn't stay tuned in long... fugly cars with covered wheels and sharp edges not making any noises that sound like race cars.

And speaking of sound, Ralph Sheheen on the mic is an absolute dealkiller for me... ooooph.

The race yesterday was still a bit processional at the front, would have been interesting to see what the out-come would have been without the intervention of the safety car, but there is no doubt that these two (Leclerc/Verstappen) are champions of the future... and its great to Mclaren getting their poopie together! If Eddie Jordans prediction of Mclaren using a Mercedes PU next year comes true who knows... maybe a Mclaren on the podium? One can but only hope ;-)

It's THE most annoying question you could ever ask a race fan.

I have two answers.

1. They're going as fast as they can.

2. Well, racecar drivers don't actually care about how fast they're going. In fact, they don't even have a speedometer in the car. What they care about is lap times and track position.

The first I give to people I don't know or care about.

The second I give to friends whose intelligence I value.

They both got punted out of the points after the race, unfortunately.

It sounded like a very wild race, I only had the timing and web commentary on in the background and looked in sporadically.
