Facebooks Gone Rogue; Its Time for an Open Alternative

Facebook only started to get bad once they started letting EVERYONE use it, instead of just college students/alumni.
With that said, some people are way over paranoid about this stuff. You can easily set your whole profile to friends only, and oh yeah, don't post anything that you wouldn't want other people to see.

It's because fb use to be just for college kids and it was a way to escape the prostitots and spam on myspace. It was clean, well laid out, and was all about connecting to friends you actually knew and wanted to stay in touch with. It worked very well up until they removed the restriction that said you needed a student id to join or had to have someone already in the system vouch for you to get you in.

Facebook WENT TO HELL after they opened up to non-students. It'll only be a matter of time until we move on again.
Myspace used to be the place for kids to have. Then adults started getting into it and it became uncool. Facebook was for kids, it was where you could say "f you mom" and nobody but your friends saw it and we were all cool with it. Now , adults have taken over, and there's no privacy between you and your parents again. I cant' say anything without my mom calling me saying "hey i saw your post, you're just sitting at home? wanna come hang out with me?" no mom...i'm looking for a friend to hang out with. I moved for a reason.

I'm sure i'm not the only kid that doesn't want his parents, employer, and other adults all up in his business. Eventually the next cool thing will open up for kids, and we'll go to that. And adults will follow, trying to be cool like always. Facebook will be the empty shell that Myspace is now, but without the music and even less purposeful. It's only a matter of time.
Not quite. Facebook was for everyone 18+ so long as they had a student email address. It was a place for maturing young adults to keep in touch with people they were friends with during their college years. If anything, Facebook went to hell when they starting allowing high school and middle school kids to join.
I couldn't tell you which came first - the businesses or the market - but I can tell you that once kids were allowed on Facebook there was suddenly a huge market business firms were wanting to get a piece of. Suddenly Facebook started going through constant changes of reformatting, ads began popping up more and more, and nowadays people's privacy is being sold to the highest bidder. It wasn't like this when Facebook was still for young adults.
Kids weren't allowed to join, people without college emails weren't allowed to join, there were virtually no ads, people only added people they knew in person, there was no spam whatsoever, and the interface/web page's format was much more user friendly. It was nice.
