You know.... I went to practice last night at the guitar players house. He kinda lives out in the sticks, and I used my High Beams for improved visibility on those dark country roads........

No point, just sayin...... :D

-Unfriended-

Congratulations, you've made it onto my exponentially ever expanding hit-list! Shall I put you down for next week? If not, then what would be a good time for you :D :p?

For a while, I friended everyone I could, in an attempt to make the "friend count" as high as possible. I remedied this by hiding a vast majority of the people so I would not be angered by their insipid comments. I recently solved this by deleting them as friends.

Not every digital photograph has to be posted to FB. There is nothing worse than seeing several dozen similar photographs, or worse, out-of-focus pictures of some party or someone's kid. Blegh.

And to be blunt, if I don't really care about speaking with someone from HS, etc., why on earth would I care about how many times their kid "used the big-boy's potty"? (one of my friends from HS actually posted that...)

I don't know how old your friend from HS is but young mothers abuse Facebook to no end. If I remember correctly I have four as friends on FB. Two are idiots and I feel sorry for their children but all four are guilty of being windows into their child's life. I know more about they're children than some people I've met in real life and I didn't even want to. Passive reading and a good textual memory are sometimes an unsettling combination...

I'm just posting because I'm delirious right now and it seems like the thing to do. I've taken to defriending lots of people... Mainly kids in junior high. Between the drama, trash talk, and "swag" posts, I'm pretty jaded about junior high kids in general. If this has very little relevance, I'm drugged and I have a nice fever. So there. :D

After reading your post,I opened my fb and checked the latest stuff people posted.

4 status updates for attention whoring in the first page!

Here's one example: relaxing time: GYM !!!!

This person is a Turkish girl,an old friend of mine from university...

ps:English is not the native tongue of Turkey.:scowl:

I dont even use facebook, but people did the same thing 8 years ago on MySpace. I was one of those people back then. The Myspace/Facebook page is an extension of ourselves. Some people have real friends, some a lot of friends, on their pages they share that stuff with. I used to write alot, and I posted practically everything on my page. It got me laid quite often too. So maybe thats it?

People want a place to express themselves. There's a lot of stuff that would be difficult or embarrassing to talk about in person (mostly because very few people want to listen to it), so it's easy to type it into FB. I think the same thing about blogs. Someone has a bunch of opinions about politics and what is wrong with the world, which no one wants to hear. So they write a blog and imagine that people are reading it.

I think this is key.

While I tend to agree about some people over-sharing parts of their personal lives, it's easy enough to block those posts. I find FB to be extremely helpful in keeping regular contact with extended family and friends scattered across the country and around the world. Through FB, I've been able to reconnect with friends that I had lost touch with years ago and had no idea how to find. FB was also responsible for me knowing about Phalex's Christmas underwear.

See that part alone makes FB completely worth it.

I have one friend who constantly posts things about her absentee baby daddy not sending child support money and constant complaints about it...it gets annoying.

That and posts like "I just took a shower, felt so good" annoy the crap outta me.

Who gives a S#%#$?
