Does anyone have the Bass transcription of "Fainting In Coils" off Bill Bruford's album "One Of A Kind"? Jeff Berlin played on the track. A very cool Fusion / Prog type tune. Amazing keyboard parts and solo, Holdsworth is tip top as usual, Bruford is top notch and Berlin plays some great lines. I'm really old so I'm use to learning all bass parts by lifting the needle off the record and dropping it back down and over and over and over and over. I don't have the patience any more and time is running out. I'm really old. I was thinking of doing a home recording version but then thought, why? The original is so good it would be moot to do a cover of it. Still would like the bass transcription though. Thanks.

I haven't got to this one yet, Lazo, but there are about 26 other Jeff Berlin full bass ttasncriptions on my personal transcription website including several others off the 'One Of A Kind' album. There are transcriptions of ALL of tunes on 'Gradually Going Tornado' and nearly all of 'Feels Good To Me'. All for free. Hope you can find something of interest.

Yeah, all of it will be of interest to me. Thank you so much. Like I said in my original post, when I first started to learn how to play the bass I would learn tunes just by listening to tracks and learning the part. I took lessons from a very good teacher so I was a very good reader but it was difficult to find a transcription of almost anything. So there I was trying to learn YES, Gentle Giant and King Crimson tunes. It does make one a better player and musician but it can be extremely time consuming. Thank you again, I really appreciate your hard word work and will keep my eye on your page in case you get around to transcribing "Fainting In Coils". Thanks again.
I am just finishing Jeff's 'Scarecrow Soup' so will have a look at 'Fainting In Coils' after that. My ambition has been to write out the three Bruford studio albums. 'Adios A La Pasada' is a tough nut to crack as there are parts that feel formless and are hard to write down but I am well over half way there. .
Hats off to you Rob. You're tackling some tough pieces. I saw the Bruford Band at the El Mocombo (small club in Toronto) way back around 1979. I was front and centre so I had my mind blown. Also saw UK there and Jan Hammer. It's amazing seeing top shelf brands like these in a small club. I actually watched Jan Hammer and his band do their sound check before the show. Hammer was something else. He was on fire just warming up during sound check.

Yeah. I have a day gig too:Child Protection Social Worker but I find immersion in a transcription can be a great way of distancing myself from the stresses of the job. And we have no gigs at the moment because of this virus thing so it's just another outlet. I said I would try and do 100 transcriptions this year (that was before lockdown). I have done 87 so far so am ahead of the game. Its a positive challenge and I enjoy it so am happy to help.
