Fair Price for Alembic Europa Custom 6?

Hey all,

I`m thinking of putting my 1998 Alembic Europa Custom 6 string for sale. Just wondering what a fair price would be.

I is a figured walnut top, 36" Scale, 5 piece maple neck, ebony board with laser LED inlays, and Signature Electronics.

Are you sure that's a Europa? Usually they come standard with the 11 piece maple/purpleheart neck. Maybe it's a Rogue? Or Orion?

Sweet bass, either way. With the Leds and Signature Electronics, that definitely brings up the value. I'd guess $3500 might be a fair price. Depends also on what you paid for it, and how badly you want to not sell it...

The Orion is a set neck, and the rogue has a longer top horn.

The bass is a beaut! To look at and to play. I'm in no hurry to get rid of it. But if the right price comes around, or the right trade, I would be willing to part with it.

I bought the bass used, but there is very little signs that it was played by the previous owner. If I try to build it on alembic's site, the new price is around 16k!

It's $14K in the quote generator, start with Rogue as base model (-$1200 if it doesn't have side leds)

That would be about $12K street price (- monthly special, - dealer discount, + tax)

If you put it on ebay it will most likely sell between $2500 and $3500

Best is to keep it, looks stunning!

IMO, it's obscene what Alembic charges for their instruments. You can purchase a hand-carved archtop jazz box by Mark Campellone and pay many thousands less than that.

I'd be ashamed of myself & embarrassed quoting a customer such a number.

There just isn't enough that goes into making one to justify a price like that.

On the secondary market, good sense prevails & they sell for a figure more in line with what their worth.

I'd say keep it!
