I tried linking directly to the particular posting, but it doesn't seem to work (always takes you to the top of the page). So you will have to just go to the page and scroll down to the post that is dated June 9, 2017, and then you will have to expand it to see it in the additional replies. You can only scroll a little at a time and then let it load more and then keep scrolling, etc.

No info myself, but it looks like one of them is aimed particularly at modular synth users. Whatever they are, they are not going to be dull, unimaginative reheats: I doubt GF is capable of producing such a thing. Have seen two references to a July 28 release/announcement, so not too long to wait. :drool:

I use the hulk to add to the parts where for example the guitar is doing a solo or where i feel the song could use some bottom. I really like it. Big. Fat. The low b sounds majestic out of this thing. Makes the room tremble.

With the US I found 5-6 settings that i really like and I’m still exploring, I’m really enjoying it. I’m feeling there is a bit of low end loss but I’m still unsure, time will tell. i’m looking possibly at the new feedback looper for the blend and to unlock even more crazy tones out of the US.

I think that one can certainly find settings that lose bass, with Unpleasant suprise, just as much as one can find some that don't. I have found good use for all, in different contexts.

so ive had the long life for a little while now. i was looking for a parametric mid control that i could stomp on and off to get a different voice mid song. i have so many pedals with a semi parametric mid control, but i felt that i needed control over the Q also. this pedal delivers in spades. its a super flexible parametric eq. its a tilt eq. combine the tilt and the parametric and you can get resonant low pass, resonant high pass and band pass filters. this is what i was hoping for, since i am unable to get the broughton RFE. it delivers in spades in this dept although only one band at a time unlike the broughton which has 3, but i only need one at a time anyway. i suspect its like the onboard alembic tone controls or a one band superfilter, although i have no experience. they mention the soft clipping diode... i run mine clean, and its easy to run it totally clean, but the soft clipping on this is very nice too. just crank the gain and you can get some nice edge of breakup clipping. probably full on distortion too, but i havent tried that yet. i'm actually suprised this hasnt caught more attention from bass players being that the soft clipping / overdrive threads are always so popular... if you wanted to use this as a soft clipper i imagine it would be wonderful to be able to adjust the voice of it pretty much any way you want with the eq. you could probably emulate any pedal or amp you want. i have run it on the edge of breakup into my tube amp and i have to say its as nice or even nicer than any overdrive i have, and i'm comparing it to the barbershop, pork loin, micro red dragon, xotic rc bass booster, tone hammer pedal and sansamp para and sansamp vt. i would even use this as an outboard eq for recording either during tracking or mixing.

(edit: when i say crank the gain... the gain on this is for the eq band. im not with the pedal at the moment, but if memory serves, you can get it to overdrive by hitting it with more gain before the pedal, or even the volume control. i can clarify that later tonight.)

I'm having a lot of fun with the used Four Eyes I picked up. There are some crazy sounds inside this thing, but I'm also finding that it works very well as a touch-sensitive overdrive. I actually like it better than the Barbershop in this application!

I didn’t like my Barbershop at all, so I traded it years ago. The Four Eyes clipping is much more pleasant to my ear than the Barbershop, as well as being more versatile.

When playing around with the Barbershop; did you listen out for the effects the treble cut switch has? I have found it really usefull recently and used to completely under appreciate it.


As to 4 Eyes; if I could only have one break up pedal it would be this one.
I think it stacks well with both barbershop and unpleasant surprise( the latter remaining my favourite pedal , bar none)


Just out of interest; what serial number does yours have?:)

I don't recall enjoying the Barbershop on any of the switch settings. The clipping just seemed really harsh and overly compressed to me compared to the other 3-4 light/medium overdrives I A/Bed it against.

I've got Four Eyes #747.
