MIC Fender IS Custom Shop fakes! Best darned instruments I've owned in quite some time...AND they're basses the "real" Fender won't make! I LOVE EXCLAMATION MARKS AND CAPITAL LETTERS! TORT!

Should Fender produce "fake" Fenders? It seems that everyone is making Fender inspired instruments these days so why shouldn't Fender get in on that action? I know they would be behind the curve at first since they haven't yet made fake Fenders but I don't think it would take them long to catch up to the professional fake Fender producers. They could call them the Fender Fake Standard Series or something like that. What do you think?

I have a Jazz bass, one of those Fender MIM "black label" mid-90s that says "Squier Series" in small print on the headstock. You can find people on the internet arguing about whether these are really Fenders or Squiers, as if that changed the instrument's nature somehow 20 years after it was made. Some unscrupulous people apparently sand off the little Squier Series decal (sort of the opposite of adding a fake decal, yes?)

Even if you don't sand off the decal, my position is that this is, in fact, a fake Fender that was actually made by Fender. Just be quiet about this, because if the main Basses forum realizes it, talkbass may fold in on itself and disappear into the Matrix.
