fake musicians

nowadays whatever they call punk is a far cry from the real thing
i am a fake musician. been fakin' it for decades and still makin' great music. infact, the real musicians in my circle love playing with me. i have no idea why a studied player would be so interested in my lacking, but i get work whenever i want.
my keys player is a Super Fake, though! i play bass but actually started on piano and contantly have to show this guy the chord pats. the kid has the feel/groove and is hella creative so he gets my vote almost everytime. the last virtuoso key-player that i auditioned was STIFF as an Oak Tree!!! the whole band suffered through his lack of flow.
as a result, the FAKER got hired and we just work a little harder and the sound is tight!

How many chords do I have to know to be a real musician?
Just the ones on the dotted frets.
Learn pop songs. You'd be surprised at how many of the contain C, G, F and Am, or some variation, with the occasional Em thrown in. Seriously, just look at charts for any popular songs. 4 chords is all you need to make a million dollars... apparently?
Miles Davis and other "modal" musicians often only used one chord at a time... a C-(maj7) chord can be 20 minutes easily my friend.

I'd say as many as you need to get the sound of the music you want it to sound
Any bass player who just plays roots is a "fake musician or a guitarist playing bass" IMHO, people like that are a joke to me, I mean it's your choice how you "play" but you got to be a key member and not just a supporter IMHO.
