Fall Foliage 2020

This thread's a little slow, so with your permission, I'd like to post a few photos of our local Halloween house.
This guy in my neighborhood goes berzerk every Halloween. And such that it brings joy! :hyper:]

It's been a weird year here in NC. We usually don't have a "Spring". It goes from our version of cold (usually in the 40s) to hot and humid. This year we had several weeks of cool and dry during the Spring.

We also usually don't have a Fall. It goes from hot and humid up into October and November to our version of cold again (with maybe one snow and maybe a few days in the 20s).

This year, however, we have had several weeks of cool and dry for the Fall. But the other unusual thing I'm seeing is that the leaves are going straight from green to brown and falling quickly. Overseen very little orange and yellow, but LOTS of leaves on the ground. All of my trees (5 acres wooded lot) have done this. Well over half the leaves have fallen. And we had zero red, orange, or yellow.

Weird year....

Alright. Just taken 2 days ago in Upper / Lower Austria (Thx Michael for the hint with this thread).

Wow! Beautiful!

We have mostly evergreens and scrub on this side of the island so we don't get a lot of really vibrant colours and this year, it's been later than usual, thanks to a brilliant warm, dry Fall (so far). These are pretty representative of what fall looks like around here, and you can see the trees in the background are turning but for the most part pretty muted.

Now, the west coast of the island (not my pic), OTOH:

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn Queens. ;)

Out of curiosity, how does leaf collection work in NYC? Is that the sanitation department's problem? Or do you have to deal with it yourself, like shoveling snow off of the sidewalk?

Garp, your A tree Grows In Brooklyn made me think about where it was written, and then I remembered it's only a couple of miles from my house.
I was looking for nice, Autumn scenes at dusk, and went by the place it was written in.
Enjoy.
