Famed P-Bass Users

Bruce Foxton
The Jam's later material: "The Gift" LP, "Beat Surrender"...

John Butler
Psychedelic Furs, probably on "Talk Talk Talk" LP...

Mike Rutherford on Genesis's "No Reply At All"

You forgot The Producers' Kyle Henderson.
;)

Scott Thunes used a P on 'most' everything from 1984 onwards (used Carvin before that), and I'm pretty sure that everything from the 1988 tour was a P (except for a song that he played bass synth on).

Tom Fowler used a P on "Live At The Roxy" (still waiting on the DVD which should be great!).

Patrick O'Hearn got some nice fretted and fretless P tones on his stuff with Zappa (but his P's look to be modded, with what I don't know).

Bruce Thomas with Elvis costello
whoever played on natalie merchant's "tigerlilly" record
Patrick Dahlheimer on Live's "Secret Samadhi"
Scott Shriner with Weezer

The ultimate roundwound P tones in my book are the ones from the Pink Floyd records "Meddle" and "Animals", and "Dark side of the moon" wasn't half bad either.

I've never seen Squire use a Fender or heard about it. Please clarify.

I thought I saw Squire play a P on a song or two during the last tour I saw, but later found out that it was most likely a P-copy made by Lakland. The little time he has been seen on it doesn't warrant inclusion in this thread though IMO.

Adam Clayton- U2

Has played a 1972(?) P-Bass for most of his time, sunburst (more like natural now) has sported Black and Mirror Pickgaurds. Has had the neck change to a jazz neck.

Also had a black P-Bass from memory.

He also owns / used a Sadowsky jazz, not sure of model- but I'm pretty sure it's natural with a white pickgaurd- Was used during the Popmart tour and can be seen on both Popmart and Elevation video's. It was acuired in 95/96(?) in New York whilest Adam was taking up lessons with Patrick Pfeiffer I believe.

And a 1962(?) Fender Jazz Bass, Sunburst- Maple neck.
