Famous Bands with Good Singers!

Just to balance out the bad singer thread. Who are some bands in which in your opinion the singer's voice is very good.

I'll start:
Dennis DeYoung (Styx)-I know he tried to turn Styx in to a Broadway showtune band, but IMO his voice is outstanding. Probably one of the best in all of rock/pop music.

Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Co., etc.)-An all around great singer with a nice soulful voice.

Patrick Stump (Fallout Boy)-make fun of Pete Wentz all you want but IMO Patrick has a great voice. Excellent range and ability especially considering he had never sang prior to joining FOB.

Wham! Okay, maybe not exactly a "group" and, yes, some of their stuff was awfully cheesy, but George Michael can sing his @$$ off!

Rush. Geddy actually developed a decent singing voice once he abandoned the screeching. Check out the stuff they put out in the 80s and early 90s. I don't care too much for his voice today, though. He's sounding a bit ragged, age does that to you!

Axl Rose??? Really?? I'd rather hear a cat thrown into a chipper shreader while he drags his claws across a chalkboard at an Amy Weinhouse concert than listen to Axl Rose. I'd use words like annoying and irritating to describe his voice. Glad you like him though.

Very true. I'm a big SRV fan. I remember right after he died my aunt said how sad it was and that she really loved his voice. I had always thought of him as a guitar player first but that really opened up my ears to what a good bluesy voice he had.

I'm going to ignore many of the great singers out there and go way out to remind folks about that Bob Dylan guy.

By no means the guy I look to when I feel like a vocals clinic, but consider this : Apart from Jimi Hendrix, who does a Dylan cover without sounding like Dylan. It may not be the nasally tone but the timing, phrasing, and inflection of Bob eventually comes through.

As a singer he always gets his point across, and in the end, isn't that the point?

Sorry to digress, but I think Bob gets short shrift.

So, Daltrey, Plant, Sting, Mercury, Gillan, Dickenson, Lee, Anderson, and a bunch more.

The one time I saw KISS I was actually impressed w/ Paul Stanley's singing ability. He can hit some high notes, man. I don't love KISS, but that dude can sing... At least he could that night.
