Dude, that's AWESOME! Sean is an amazing, tasteful player. It's a shame everyone talks about Myung but never Malone...Sean's playing with Cynic and Gordian Knot is nothing short of fantastic.
How do you guys meet all these people?

Yeah they were both pretty cool. Rex seemed kinda pissed/tired, but signed my stuff and took a picture, so props to him. And Vortex is probably the nicest famous musician I've ever met (didn't ask him to sign anything, all I need nowadays is a picture).
That's better than me & my memory!

I met and talked to Carol Kay a few months back, she told me to get my technique together and everything would be fine. She was great.
When I was young my Dad introduced me to Ray Brown, he talked about how music is an expression that comes from the heart.
I talked to Stu Hamm back stage, he was in this blues trio that was actually opening for my band, to say the least I was intimidated, but he was super nice. He picked up my bass and told me how it's so hard for him to play a five string. I asked him what it was like to be in a band with Frank Gambale and Steve Smith, he said it was pretty cool.

One way:
You have to know one or two of them as friends and go & hang with the NAAM Show in LA.
Because I know so or so- and was hanging out with them at one of the mfg's Booths- because they have to give demos. sign autographs etc.
They 'll get invited to the parties & often I get invited too because I 'm with them at that moment !
So I 'll meet many of these people at the parties when I 'm with my friends (who happened to know them
any ways.)
They too- are anxious to hang with everyone else or check out which mfg is giving the best party of the night. A lot times most these folks rarely see each other too-
as they have gigs, sessions or on the road a lot too. So they only see each other at the NAAM show.
So it just big " high school reunion" in sense... but for the big boys & girls!
What's fun is watching which mfg try out do each other in party sense-
who can attact more celebrities by offering more
drinks, food, products, etc.
I won't give any mfg's names out - but I did enjoy watching
and hanging with some famous drummers- at competing drum mfg parties in the same night!
Everyone would drift from the one party to other- check out who had what to eat, drink & product samples..
Drummer parties are the loudest too!
The first time I sat down with him for a lesson, I had no idea what Cynic was or any of his other work (I was a jazz snob back then). Then when I heard him play the first time, I was like "
". I feel very fortunate to have been able to learn and jam with the guy.
I have met a number of famous musicians, not that many bass players. I have met Gary Grainger! He is great! I could have met Victor Wooten if I had known that the Flecktones come out after every show to meet people! Idiot! Idiot! IDIOT! Oh well. There is always next time (if they ever come to Florida again)! Hey I might meet Stanley Clark on July 31 when I see Return To Forever!

Dude that is awesome that song shows the true purpose of a bass player. what is that any way there early early work.
It was there first album they made. There were only 500 copies made and they run around triple digits on Ebay.
