Invalid Link Removed turned up at one of our gigs and it happened to be the night we all looked like complete plonkers performing a night of cheesy 80's hair metal and rock covers for a "Rock of Ages" night. as if it could get any worse we were all wearing spandex and wigs and all but one of my band mates are big fans of his

I have played gigs with Peter Fonda, Michael Keaton, Rob Lowe, Shannon Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Steven Spielberg, Kate and Jessica Capshaw, Bill Bradley, Randy Newman, Several Pro football players and coaches in the audience.

Once finished up a set at a Holiday Inn. The crowd was thin because there was an Eagles concert in town.
We announced at the opening of the last set that we were happy that those in the audience had come to see us, but understood it was probably because they couldn't get tickets and would make it up to them with an entire set of Eagles tunes. We did. When the lights came up. They were sitting in the back of the club, but left before we could talk to them. Turned out they were staying there.

I was playing an after-hours club in L.A. with a 10 piece African band, and David Bowie came by after his concert and hung out for a few hours.

A thousand years ago I had a gig in the village in NYC. As the band before us ended, Debbie Gibson and some soap opera guy showed up to see them but missed the set. They were friends. So they all hung out at a table and watched our set.

Playing with a lounge act in the early 70's, at the infamous Sunset Blvd Hyatt, and look up midway thru the 3rd set to find the Kinks Davies brothers at the back of the bar. I am embarrassed because the band is so light wt. they leave before our next break.

I played with Janelle Monae in the audience a couple months ago. She made a point of complimenting us, so I think she dug it.

yep, it happens once in a while in high traffic areas I play in. touristy parts of town, seems like everyone rolls through there once in a while.

I was introduced to comedian Steven Wright once between sets out on Block Island, RI a few years ago. Apparently, he lives out there in the summer time. I was excited because I love his character, "the guy on the couch" in Half Baked. He recoiled in horror as I want to shake his hand. Then, he collects himself and gives me the elbow bump. Our mutual friend later explained to me that he's an extreme germ-o-phobe. He did see me walk out of the mens room right before this happened. He also showed up to see us again the next night.

Comedian Doug Benson came over to our show after performing his set next door. I know nothing about him, but I'm told he's famous.

I've met Vanessa Carlton and Julia Styles backstage one night when we opened for Deer Tick. I had never heard of either one until it was explained to me who they were the next day. I never would have guessed either were celebrities. I remember Julia squeezing by me through a tight spot at one point. I said, 'Don't worry, I don't bite." She shot back in an icy stare, "Oh don't worry, I'm not afraid of YOU." Ice cold. And fat too. Maybe it was for a movie role. ;-)

Joaquin Phoenix showed up to a Newport Folk fest after party we played. He was in RI working on the new Woody Allen film they shot in Providence this past summer. He ended up being drinking buddies with the singer of my band for the next few weeks. I never got an invite to party with them.

I played in front of Troy McClure. You may have seen him in the movie "There goes my Man-Purse" and "Whatever happened to Baby Che Guevara"

I played at an outdoor event in the '90s (not exactly my gig) and the then-Lt. Governor and Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi) were there. I doubt they were listening to us though.

Played in the house band for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "HitRECord Fall Formal" show. We played with/for Joseph, Anne Hathaway, Sia, Gary Oldman, Neil Patrick Harris, and maybe a couple of others.

Playing in a southern rock cover band in the 80's in a dive biker bar just outside DC. Had Greg Walker from Blackfoot come in and hang out. I asked him if he wanted to play but he declined. He waived on the way out and complimented our guitar player... guess he didn't care for what I did to his bass lines on the Blackfoot songs we covered?

Im in the NW Ohio/SE Michigan area, back in the day I remember playing at a two stage club with some shmoe from Detroit called Kid Rock on the other stage. Also we played alternate Tuesdays at one room with Verve Pipe. There are a few more Ill post if/when I can remember.
