Great idea, but it should be on the BL's pedalboard to cut out the guitarist at the proper times

whelp, i'm normally a solid-state kinda guy...but this might be a good way for me to check out the _tube tune_ thing i hear so much about.
And they'll probably want like $80 for one. What a joke. I built my own in an afternoon once I acquired the parts. Cost me like maybe $10. I treated it as a fun little project since I have very little experience with electronics. (It has a toggle switch, because I couldn't find a three-post button-style (stomp) switch in town. But it gets the job done.)
I actually had a use for it too. A while back I decided to only go to the house direct in the band I was playing in. We had stage monitors, but they sucked for bass. I had a multi-effects pedal with a headphone out as well as line out. I used headphones with a little amp in between to hear myself, instead of using a stage monitor. So I would set the chain like so: Bass -> Multi -> Killswitch -> House. So when I killed the signal, I could still hear myself through my headphones and dink around. (This is especially useful in a worship band where the BL/Pianist would occasionally wander off into other songs and I needed to figure out what the heck I was playing.)
I will say that the line in the video about hitting the killswitch before starting the bass solo made me chuckle. But otherwise, what a dumb video. Apparently the marketing team thought they needed a "sick" demo for this pedal. One stomp. All done.

Yeah you can build a mute pedal, but you can't build one like THIS. I can make a hamburger at home, but it's no Big Mac.

i use a saturnworks kill switch at the beginning of my pedal chain. great pedal for $26.
it is awesome to easily kill your sound to change basses or just to set your bass down for a minute with out turning the volume down.

My only concern would be how is affects the low end of the silence sound spectrum. I'd hate to lose sub 100hz silence.

Kind of cool, but I'm going to hold out until they release a John Cage signature 4'33" TonePrint. That way the audience chatter becomes the music. Magic.
I go to a specialty baker who custom makes the signature "3 bun" sets for me. The tone, er, I mean taste, is all in that middle bun. Plus I have some NOS special sauce that really nails that Mac Mojo.
