Fastest playing neck?

Or, in other words, the opposite of what I experience with the Rickenbacker neck. I hate it because it is heavily lacquered, so it feels like my hand is stuck in glue.

In contrast to this, what is the fastest, smoothest neck out there?
Four string only, please. 24 frets would be nice, too.

My Orion 4 has a really fast & smooth neck due to the polyester clear satin finish.

Good point--finish is only one element that makes for a fast neck, and I had an old Rick with the back of the neck stripped down to bare wood that was a great player....

Actually, probably the fastest neck (for me) that I've played is a Warwick with Ovangkol neck (think it was tung-oiled). That's mainly because the action of my Carvin was a little high, and I haven't lowered it yet. (Of course, the neck is now off and going back to Carvin for a broken truss rod)

Well I would say Fodera for me, but I would say the answer would be the neck you find most comfortable with a good satin finish that won't cause your thumb to stick.

If you like your Rick, just sand the back of the neck down a bit. A few swipes with 2000 grit wet/dry takes the sticky laquer feel right off.
