Fat Bass for a rock band?

I haven't been to many good rock concerts, mostly just concerts of local bands that set up their sound on their own. I used to like a mix where you could hear the bass clearly in the headphones.

Lately, I've been going out to dance parties where they play songs like these with huge amplifications and gut-shaking subs and that changed my entire point of view on live show sound:

Can this kind of bass sound work in a rock band where the basslines are mostly pumping 8th notes? I could get a similar sound by cutting the tone or lowering the highs, boosting the lows and setting the gain and compression to 11.

Looks like you have some octave/synth pedal. You could probably pull off something similar. But notice how there was just kick and bass/synth during that section of the vid. Anything more and it would get pretty muddy I would think. This type of thing would be more effective for a breakdown section of the song, not the whole thing. Also watch your speakers if you're trying to pump out really low & loud notes.
