Father and Daughter newbies.

Well, it seems my daughter (13) has gotten interestest in the bass and I'm wanting to keep her interest sparked. So I'm looking to pick one up again and learn with her (a little bonding so to say).
I haven't played around in 25 years and wasn't that good back then. I started with a Peavy Patriot and moved to a B.C. Rich Warlock (who wouldn't those things looked cool in the 80s).
I bought her an Ibanez GSR200 that was on sale for $144 shipped. Then I figured I'd look around the used market for me something and ran across a 1999 Ibanez 885 with an Orange Crush 50BXT. Never tried a 5 string (still, haven't picked it up yet).
For the record, she had found some of my old tapes and got into Kiss and then Motley Crue. Now obsessed with Nikki Sixx. I'd rather it be Lemmy and Cliff Burton (our last name is also Burton). But whatever keeps her going in this direction would make a father proud.

Any advice about our setups or tips on keeping her interested in this. I know kids will be kids and their interest might change. I just want to spend time with her and have a little fun for the Hell of it also.

Move to songs quickly, don't get bogged down in the theory. Fake chord sheet music will let you two do this in a short time span. See a chord, find it's root in the first 5 frets of the neck of your bass and then play that root note to the beat the song wants.

Roots first then add the 5. It's always up a string and over two frets from the root. When the R-5 flows throw in an 8, it's always over the 5 one string up same fret. R-5-8-5 will let you play anything you will need for at least a year. Go have fun.
