The older lower watt tube bass heads are pretty neat. Ampeg V4b, Traynor YBA1a and YBA3. They may only be 100 watts or so but with the right speaker box that is pretty loud. Also, IMO tube amps distinguish themselves when they are sweating.

The Fender Studio Bass and/or Super Twin heads are great Fender tone options. 180/200w all tube (depending on the year/model), ultralinear designs that kick some serious bass booty.
I have heard it said that the arrival of the Studio Bass head drove Mesa to produce the Buster.
