Favorite Bass Chorus Pedals?

The Hardwire CR-7 is great for a versatile chorus pedal. It's got great sounds and it will give you any chorus sound you're looking for.

I bought the Hardwire CR-7 without trying it based on what I read here and I don't regret it one bit. It's a solid feeling pedal that gives excellent chorus tones.

In short - +1 on the Hardwire.

Ashdown Bass Chorus Plus.... I own one. True bypass and the signal just sounds so sweet! Doesn't eat up your bass tone!

I just picked up a used Maxon CS-9 and like it a lot, very nice with bass. Not just one good chorus sound either, it has deep lush chorus, vintage leslie, vibrato....And I got a pretty good deal on it used off craigslist.
I did my research over the last month and would have gone for a good deal on any of these pedals, Analog only and preferably used: Analogman mini with deep switch, Visual Sounds H2O or the Liquid Chorus, TC Electronics chorus/flanger, Fulltone ChoralFlange. Happy Hunting, Patience Pays

I think that Maxon CS-9 is based on the Ibanez CS-9 from the early 80's (although I could be full of cr@p), and the Ibanez CS-9 is what I judge every other chorus against. For me, I found that it could take a horrible bass (a global) and even worse amps (2 10 watts Advantage's) and make them sound really good. Being a poor high school kid at the time, that sound could make me happy. When I moved up to a Fender P that pedal came with me, I had up until 2000, and then I got rid of it. But I still remember the sound..

To summarize the Ashdown... it has a nice sound, but it doesn't rob your sound and you can control your input and output gains... The effect does not bleed all over the mix and actually adds a subtle and sexy texture to your signal.

I am surprised no one has mentioned the Diamond Halo Chorus yet. My search led me to this pedal. It is so lush and rich sounding with no low end loss or volume drops. Its expensive and requires 18v but I bought a custom cable from Voodoo Labs and it simply uses two of the 9v outlets on my pedal power. This really is one of the most amazing chorus pedals I have ever heard.

I haven't tried a whole lot of chorus pedals, but none of the ones I have tried could match my favorite tone of the Clone Theory in mode CHR2 with the depth and rate set to about 10:30. I know not everyone likes such a tone but I can't live without it for certain things. If another chorus pedal could sound like this, I'd like to give it a try...

I don't have too much experience either but out of the current generation chorus pedals (i.e. excluding the ones not manufactured anymore), the Boss CE-5 is surely my favorite. That being said, EHX Small Clone is pretty nice too.

Your mileage will vary as these clips are on fretless.


Here are clips of fretless bass with chorus. I looped a riff through each chorus. Each clip begins dry, then progresses through several settings, first with slow rate, high depth and medium blend (if applicable), then progresses to high rate, low depth and medium and various settings in between, as some effects have more controls than others, and end with a dry bass. I aimed to show the variety of sounds to be found from each pedal and also at similar settings to show their differences in sound. I kept it simple.

It might give you a little idea of the chorus sound of each. For me, I obviously don't have a single favorite. Sometimes I want wet analog and sometimes very pristine clear. It all depends. For example, the DLS is very nice, very pristine as compared to the Cosmichorus, thick analog. If you'd like further clarification or info let me know.

Do they still make the Visual Sound H2O? I'm not seeing it, instead I see the Visual Sound V2 Series V2LC Liquid Chorus...Is this just the new version or something?

OK, I see the H20 now...but does anyone have any experience with the H20 and the V2 liquid Chorus? Do they both work good for bass as far as keeping the low end?

Word, I couldn't be happier with mine. I bought it and a Diamond Halo and a Fulltone Choral Flange (old model) and the Bi-chorus just killed 'em all in every aspect.
