Favorite Bass For Flatwounds

I think the Jazz bass with flats is underrated in terms of nostalgia and cool factor. Another "well duh" for flats would be the Hofner Viola basses like Sir Paul played back in the day, at least in my opinion. The only thing is the time it takes to break them in can discourage a lot of people. I did a lot to break in my chromes, including mowing the lawn and wiping the sweat from my back onto the strings, eating greasy chicken only to clean my hands with the strings, and making a point to never wash my hands when I played it. Took me about 2 or 3 months to get em super dead and thumpy.

That sounds like pretty extreme steps to break in strings. Then again I've been known to change basses but keep the same strings. Here are some Chromes on their third bass, so worn their silk ends are going bald.
