I have certain riffs I use for soundchecks. "I Shot The Sheriff" for reggae. "I'll Take You There" for RnB. "Born Under A Bad Sign" for blues. "Money" for rock.

On an originals gig, I have certain riffs and patterns of my own I use for the same purposes.

I like to warm up with What's Goin On by Marvin Gaye. If I'm feelin slappy, Squeeze Me Macaroni by Mr. Bungle fits the bill nicely.
