Favorite Bass Purchase 2022?

No new basses for me in 2022. But I did put an Audere Preamp in my 2000 Modulus VJ. This bass came with Bartolini pickups and no preamp. Love the tone but the low output gave me fits. This preamp is genius. Really brought this old bass to life. This is the three band version and it really sings. Very organic, like playing into an old Fender amp. Doesn't sound overly processed as some preamps do.

I was on track to have bought nothing this year….

…until my brother sent me a link two weeks before Christmas. It was an auction for a Warwick 1997 Streamer LX 5 string that needed work. Price too good to refuse.

I still haven’t seen it in person yet which is killing me. If a keeper, it would be an upgrade on 3 other basses that I could sell from my horde.

Yes the TRBX174 is indeed a very good sounding bass!
I have the alder version, it just feels so good to play.
It made me prefer a passive bass.

I think I only got one thing this year (traded a cab for it.) no amps, been living off my string stock pile… technically best by default, but it’s a great inexpensive bass- Yamaha TRBX174. I play it often:

As soon as I saw your post, I had to reply. Talk about a shorty; I got a Haden 21" scale violin style Hofner knockoff, which I had modified by Eric's Guitar in Sound City, Van Nuys CA, replacing the partially adjustable floating wood bridge and wonky piezo pickup with an all metal fully adjustable piezo bridge with four individual saddle pickups that plugs into the existing active preamp. He also added an on/off switch so I can leave my wireless pod in the output jack.

I changed the tailpiece to match the Hofner, and added pearl top knobs, pearl truss rod cover and pearl paddles on new Gotoh tuners. Planning to make a pickguard that fits around the bridge.

I got a few basses in 2022. But I think the one I'm enjoying most is my Gibson Les Paul Jr. DC. I had one in red but foolishly sold it. I ended up missing it, but spotted this one used. Dressed it up a bit with some chrome, but I'm really loving it. Great tone, and so fun and easy to play. I might eventually do some sanding to provide some contour where my right forearm goes. Then it'll be even better...

Love the look of those basses. Never tried one unfortunately.
