I went with "Pitch Shifting/Octave" as it was my first "quality" effect after a throughly crappy Boss BE5B multi-effects (a DigiTech Bass Whammy), the effect most consistently on pedalboards of mine throughout the years, and something I own multiples of for different reasons: the "SubWave" down-octave on my SWR Mini Mo' preamp that tracks like a mofo and can go from synthy grit to digital clean with a turn of a knob, and my Micro POG that I use primarily for up-octave and "Virtual 8 & 10-strings".

One of these lives has a future, Mr. Anderson.

well my phaser is an envelope follower.
my synth in a box has a filter section
my bassballs is envelope controlled...

...but my synth in a box has octave and I bought an OC-2...

my delay has modulation, and my envelope follower is also a mod pedal...and my bassballs sweeps...

...my synth in a box has dirt, and I have a drive/fuzz/dist pedal...

hmm...

Voted for delay/reverb, because of the psychedelic feel it gives. But i have to admit, that i cant play normally without some grit/fuzz, so that would have been second vote. Also filtering is kewl, but not simple lo/hi pass, not even wah or synth, but vibe-like or arpegio effects, like Moog Ringmod or Prometheus does.
