Favorite line from a song.

Co-wrote by me and my old band Simon Sez in the song Nothing to You...

"I'm standing here in the old battered shoes.
I wanted you to move me, but you just refuse.
There's nothing left, between you and me.
Broken arrows, that just don't agree."

Also, by now defunct local band Strangers with Candy from their song My Rooom

"Come to my room, in my bed, but the whore inside you never goes away.
In the end, it's okay, but the hole inside you really shows."

I don't usually like war as a subject for a metal song but
this is really good one from Metallica "For Whom the Bell Tolls"

"On they fight, for the right, yes, but who's to say?
For a hill, men would kill. Why? They do not know
Stiffend wounds test their pride
Men of five, still alive through the raging glow
Gone insane from the pain that they surely know"

That describes the madness and pointlessness of war perfectly.

One more from me but it is a bit longer than a line in order to show the line (in bold) in context:

You yelled hey when the stove blew up
Upset? why yes
And the footprints on your ceiling, they're almost gone
And you're wondering why?
Well mama lay your head down, don't you cry
'Cause your eyes are tired, and your feat are too
And you wish the world was as tired as you, whoa
Well I'll write a letter, and I'll send it away
And put all the trouble in it you had today.

"Trouble" - Lowell George

The Police;
"Poets, priests and politicians
Have words to thank for their positions
Words that scream for your submission
And no-one's jamming their transmission
And when their eloquence escapes you
Their logic ties you up and rapes you."

It might be cheating. But my current favorite is the chorus to one I'm writing. I'm really happy with the chorus, but the verses are weak. So I'll just keep re-working them until I like all of it.

I'll have a drink to remember
Then a few to forget
I'll drink till she's out of my mind
Is the glass half full or half empty?
Who cares? Just leave the bottle behind.
