Favorite non-810 cabs for SVT CL/VR/Heritage

I figured that was "bad" like running a solid state head at 2 ohms that wasn't designed for it. What happens when you run an SVT at 8 ohms?
CL400Peavey is correct to some extent. The question is how hard is it on the tubes and OT. I have a friend who has been running his SVT into a 410 CL for years, without any issues, that I know of. He still uses his 810 for larger gigs. You'll have to judge for yourself, but I, personally, wouldn't worry about it too much, unless I were playing high/full volume. I have played a 8 ohm Fender Showman at four ohms since the early seventies, without issue. If you are going to mismatch impedance in tube amps it is better to use a lower load than specified, rather than a higher load.
I think Im too OCD for that. I found a driver that seems like it would work well in a sealed 410.

Yeah, would have to be a 2 Ohm cab. Maybe wire it with a switch to go to 8 Ohms as well?
A 2:1/1:2 mismatch isn't a big deal. That's well within what an SVT will tolerate with no issues. The amp won't make full power with that mismatch but it's not going to hurt the amp. I seem to remember that Bill Hughes said as much on here a while back.
That said, I'm usually inclined to run a 4 Ohm cabinet with my SVT, though I have used 8 Ohm ones too.
I haven't found anything I like better than an NV610 and that includes Ampeg 810s. I've had mine for 11 years and it's not going anywhere. However, I would like to try the new Barefaced Retro 610.

But personally, while I've done it with no incident, I think running an SVT out of spec tightens it up in a way that I don't like as much as running it in spec. Still sounds great...just not ideal.

Given the SVT's track record I have no issue accepting anything he says about it. I had sort of figured out on my own that this wasn't a big deal for most amps and it was a nice feeling to have it validated by someone of Bill Hughes' stature. That's the vibe I get when I run one with an 8 Ohm cab as well. Not quite sure what accounts for it but haven't really given it much thought.
