I played a show on a fairly dark stage a couple nights ago, with a set list we redid at the last minute. I really found myself wishing I had a light like this and/or a sharpie pen for thicker lines, I jotted the lists down in black ballpoint which was very hard to read on stage.

Speaking of good luck charms, I hesistated sharing this one in a thread about non-musical items, since it's a musical instrument, but I bring this bass along with me for mostly non-musical reasons.

This is my brother's old Ibanez bass. He got this bass just a few years before he died of complications from some congenital heart and lung issues he was born with. It's not my favorite instrument to play, and I wouldn't ever want to use it as a primary instrument - the pickups are a little thin and nasal for my taste. I keep it on stage ostensibly as a backup bass in case I break a string or something, but it's been ages since anything like that has happened. So really it's just there as a way of having some part of him on stage with me.

Maybe someday I'll swap out the pickups for something with a little more oomph and use this for a show, but for now it's just a good luck charm.

BTW, the old desk behind the chair is the non-musical accessory I've had the longest. That same Sequential Circuits synth has been sitting on it since 1986! I've also had various multi-track recorders sitting on the desk to the left of that synth over the years.

See, this is what happens when I post without having coffee.

Thanks for starting this thread. It put the idea into my head to get them. A 4 pack in white arrived yesterday. I tried playing this morning without it, then put it on, and the pain went away. I'm not sure I'll ever take it off. LOL.

For what it's worth, I will pass along the advice of my doctor who said that while the sleeve helps somewhat in mitigating symptoms, if you have swelling happening then applying ice after playing will do much more to address the root cause of the pain.

I've been doing this since I was a teenager. Unfortunately, nobody has ever suggested it to me. Yes, ice. Ibuprofen. Lots of stretching.
