After much debate with self: Tony Levin.
Geddy is a complete different animal, I don't know if I can think of him in terms of a "bassist" per se... I compare him to Paul MacCartney in terms of chops, creativity, multi-instrumentalist and singer-frontman.
But for pure bass mastery? Levin

Dude from protest the hero has skills, may sound wanky to some but I like over embellished crap like that, lol.
Myung also named him as the man in an interview some years back, high praise indeed.

I think John Lodge deserves honorable mention for his intricate and tasteful bass playing during the Moody Blues' more progressive period.
all good choices,i would add Helmut Hattler of Kraan,and Andy West of the Dregs,as 2 personal favorites.
