He is the one who sings the second song, which is pretty impressive seeing as his basslines are no joke, this is the type of stuff I play with a pick, which I dont do often anymore, once I started playing fingerstyle I never really went back

Karl Alvarez for having that Motown fingerstyle sound in a genre that increasingly embraces a bass sound akin to a grand piano. It doesn't get much sweeter than the combo of he and Bill Stevenson when it comes to punk rhythm sections... and then the many bands who were influenced by that sound, including percolating basslines: Big Drill Car, Chemical People, G-WHIZ, Trigger Happy, Unknown...
Must give recognition to the triumvirate of pioneers who made bass a lead instrument in punk music: Tony Lombardo, Mike Watt, and Chuck Dukowski...

Sid sucked, he was all image..i'm sry but the kid couldn't play bass for poopie. there's a difference of being a bassist and playing bass.he was neither
mike dirnt is a great bassist.Green day in the early days was punk.maybe not the new poopie but the real old poopie from the 80's

One that comes to mind that has been omitted is Clint Conley from Mission of Burma. Inventive and (apparently) underrated player. The missing link between aggressive Post-Punk basslines and Mike Mills melodic early REM work. Also plays one hell of a worn down Jazz Bass.
