Favorite punk rock bass player?

Joe Lally, David WM. Sims, Bob Weston, Joe Principe and Mike Dernt all come to mind immediately. Those are my top "punk" and or punkish style of music. Love that Jesus Lizard tone man!

Well what else is there? Energy and attitude IS punk, the rest is window dressing.

Hmm. I wonder how many of the original "punk" bass players would have been aware of Dave Alexander as an individual, and not just as "the bass in the Stooges".
At the time I started playing, most of my contemporaries were aware of the Stooges as a band, But Arthur Kane was definitely known by name to a lot of people who liked punk.
Maybe it's just my age, but Simonon, Dee Dee, Kane and JJ Burnel and Sid Vicious and Glen Matlock were the guys who could be easily name checked as bass players when I was younger. In the "punk" genre at least.
As the Dolls seemed to be on so many "influences" list, I would have given Arthur the benefit of the "Godfather" title.
Seeing them on The Od Grey Whistle Test with Arthur almost falling off his platform shoes and just towering above everyone really shook me up. As a Tall, skinny kid who liked bass guitars, he was one who made me think that tall and skinny could bee cool!
