How come no one ever says "Tufty" in these threads?

He was definitely punk back in the day. People don't consider him that now but if you'd seen him back in '87 you might change your opinion.
Agreed. He also sights a lot of gutter punk bands as major influences. Although he is not in a punk band he adapted the punk style and fused it with funk and rock. Created his own style really.

Matt Freeman (Rancid), Karl Alvarez (Descendents), and Klaus Flouride (Dead Kennedys). Fat Mike (NOFX) has some tasty licks as well; certain riffs from the Decline come to mind. Also if you listen to the Rancid/NOFX split where they cover eachother's songs you can hear some sweet bass lines.
