Favorite reverbs?

There is a time and place for bass reverb, even in the gig. Even in standard-fare pop-ish setlists. I run a Canyon on bass, and its main use right now is a shimmer (which on the Canyon is basically a slow-attack octave synth pad) underpinning acoustic guitars on a cover of Miranda Lambert's "Tin Man". I've also kicked on a subtle 'verb delay for Kelsea Ballerini's "Homecoming Queen".

Take a song that has slow chord changes with less bass movement, and pay the proper attention to wet-dry mix and tails, and you'd be surprised how much fuller the mix sounds with a little bass-based ambience. Would I use any of this on "Brown Eyed Girl" or "Touch of Grey"? Hells no. But there's a lot of middle ground between "always on" and "dry as a bone".
i LOVE the shimmer setting on the Canyon.!!

A good friend loaned me the Empress Reverb tonight and I had a few minutes with it...will get a lot more time, but so far it's incredibly easy to get amazing sounds from it. Very impressive. I like it much better than the RP Context2, although I'm totally enamored with the reverse on the Context2...like, I'm having a difficult time letting go of the pedal for that one setting...haha.

The Strymon BlueSky just came in!
It's............like......

Not a bass reverb fan, but the EHX stuff is good on guitar - I mostly like springs and plates, me, and the various Grails are good (sometimes stacked with the amp's own springs) and the Ocean 11 is capable of shoegaze. I'll shout out the Digitech Hardwire RV7, also, and the Malekko pink chicklet-thing (there's actually a usable Chinese clone around, too, I think of the Omicron).

More reverb thoughts....
The Empress' sounds are brilliant, but it has WAAAAY more than I would ever use....by a long shot.

If Red Panda can get my pedal to stop over driving the input than I'll most likely hold onto it to see how the updates shake out. I'll just use my amazing Big Ear Elle for normal verb sounds, and I'll use the Red Panda with an external footswitch (when they make that possible) to use the reverse verb, the gated verb, a bigger washy verb and a verb with 100% wet signal...I think that'll work out well.

As it stands the Elle and the Empress blow away the Context2's basic verb sounds, but I also know that they're working on updating those sounds real soon.

Been using the EQD Dispatch Master for a couple of years. That's a great sounding reverb. It just makes everything sound bigger...to me anyways. Sounded gorgeous with a Rick Turner Renaissance fretless.

The HX Stomp has some great reverbs too. My favorite is the '63 Spring.

Digitech Polara sounded great when I demo'd one, but I never bought it. And the Iron Ether Nimbus is just

Anyone else on the reverb front?

The Context2 has had another update since I've posted last....better, but waiting on the next big update, which should address some still much needed improvements.

Gave back the Empress Reverb. I'll probably end up with one of those. It sounds glorious. Best reverb I've ever heard on bass, and has some cool settings that aren't your normal reverb sounds. I wish it could self oscillate with the footswitch, but oh well. Can't win 'em all.

If I wanted a straight forward verb I'd be all over the Immerse II. Neunaber does it right.

My Big Ear Elle is still big time loved. Just gorgeous. It does have a bit of a volume boost, and I'll see how that works in a group setting as soon as I can. I can't get over the sound though. Highly recommended.

Just an update...found out that the Big Ear Elle has an internal control for the master volume. Big win.

Just tried a Blackout Effectors Cadavernous Pandimensional V2 reverb...super low end loss...major drag as it sounds gorgeous, and the self oscillation footswitch was perfect.

Still reverb searching!

I thought Context V2 had an input level adjustment in the web editor?

Have you ever tried the IE Nimbus SE, probably my fav mono verb (input adjustment on the front panel), Context V1 is second, but can be overloaded.

Meris Mercury7 is still my fav stereo unit, Empress is overkill, but I also have a Zoia now... Haven't played with the verbs yet.

The web editor only does so much. The last update mostly fixed the overdriving of the input, but if things get loud before it then it still happens. They only give you three or four options with the web editor. The last choice to lower the input gain would lower the overall volume, and it's already on the verge of being too quiet. Again, hoping the next update fixes all of that. I'm getting a better handle on the pedal itself...but I've never had to spend so much time with a pedal before I have decided to keep it or move on. Just waiting on the final update to decide.

I'm beginning to realize that I will need want to have more than one reverb pedal for different choices, as there isn't a single one out there at this point that does everything I would want.

I had used the Nimbus for a while. Had the original and then the SE. It excels at a 100% wet sound. The cold, sterile sound is what made me move on from it.

I still would love to try the Cusack Resound. I love that company. They get overlooked for sure, but they make great sounding pedals. The Resound looks fantastic.

It's true that reverb takes a certain something to be right. I've found that having one flavor feels limited as well. But having 4 pedals at $300 each for different verb flavours doesn't make much sense when they all sound the same to the audience - lol!

Ha! True. My Big Ear Elle is gorgeous, and wasn't expensive. Would love to pick up a Neunaber Immerse II at some point. What Neunaber does is REALLY special. I just haven't given up on the Context2 yet because the reverse sound is like none that I've heard before. The Empress Reverb is the best all around sounding that I've heard with bass, but WAY overkill for gigging on bass...you can see where this is going...hahaha
