Favorite Robert Wilson Lines: GAP Band

"Outstanding" is outstanding. I often confuse their ebg lines w keys. Case in point Burn Rubber.
& Humpin which I'm guessing is kyes not ebg. y/n?

Great motown sound bass on their ballad side which was outshined by their sticky stuff. e.g. You Can Count On Me

On Burn Rubber, the bass and keys double the bassline. That happens on a few other songs too. Some songs are keyboard bass only.

I Don't Believe You Wanna Get Up and Dance (Oops) is another nice bassline with some cool harmonic licks in the intro.

Burn Rubber is tight. I love their square wave fuzz sound. "You drop the bomb" is different tone but also fire.
I saw them a little while back at the Greek Theater & Snoop came out for a song. Anyway I'm very happy for Charlie Wilson who got past cancer among other things. it's good to see him come back around.

I get a little sad realizing that Robert Wilson never did a solo project. The man clearly had monster chops. I think he could have hung with Stanley or Jaco, however, the basslines that he played on the GAP Band hits are probably more memorable than an album's worth of solos.

I'm hearing a Jamerson influence on the ballads--he's got so much space to go off. Then on the hits he's steady like a battleship. I like the repetition. Outstanding has both--the driving repetition & the styling. The bridge (Iguess) "You blow my mind" when they go up then come back to the chorus; that's just good songwriting. I appreciate the steadiness, solid, no fireworks, just good parts.
Prince is my favorite of the simple song (see: "I Would Die 4 U") it's the same damn thing through whole song! As you know, "you dropped a bomb on me" is like that

I was listening to him at work today. I guess my favorites are: Shake; Yearnin' for Your Love; and Outstanding.

I know there a lot of Robert Wilson fans in TB Land!
