BTW, they are both bass players. Julie is playing a VI -- tuned E-e like a guitar, but an octave lower.
By far most of the good rock bands that have come around after 1990 are unsigned acts or groups that aren't in heavy rotation on the radio. In other words... there's plenty of good music out there, you just have to look harder for it now.

It's just in a relatively narrow scene while the rock, and even metal, genre over all is being diluted by "radio-friendly" songs (read: Pop).

My choices would be Stone Temple Pilots, Son Volt, very early ‘90s REM, Pearl Jam, Lenny Kravitz, Metallica, Hootie and the Blowfish, Matchbox 20, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Spin Doctors. I liked Blue Rodeo’s album “Casino” and the Hoodoo Guru’s “Kinky.” Rage Against the Machine, Jane’s Addiction, RHCP, Living Colour, Muse, Rush, Counting Crows, Black Crowes. There’s a lot more I can’t think of.
I had to look at a list of groups from the 90's, as I was in therapy for that decade... my issue being, the 80's were done...
... Foo Fighters, definitely, and possibly Green Day... although the latter was formed in the mid to late 80's...
... serious, I must have been hiding under a huge boulder, as almost every group listed in this thread, I've never heard of...
... and now, back to, 'Roll The Bones' '91, 'Counterparts' '93, and 'Test For Echo' '96... I do remember them.
