I respectfully disagree. Putting aside the first part, which has to its favor the fact of being a brand-new story (at the time of its release, of course) and that gives it the biggest shocking factor, the second installment has the most ingenious plot twist (in my opinion, of course). Besides, the gun behind the door is one of the traps I've "enjoyed" the most. For a really bad sequel on an horror film series, check "A Nightmare On Elm Street 2" (well, nothing comes close to "The Exorcist II - The Heretic", but I don't think it can be considered as a part of a franchise).

Worst sequel? There are probably a number of those, but after enjoying Ocean's 11 so much, I wanted my $1.50 rental fee back after watching Ocean's 12.

Nah, wouldn't agree with that. The first is better IMO (you are one ugly rubber ducker), but the second one wasn't bad, not by a long shot.

Want a bad sequel in the predator/alien films, look at AVP, or worse, AVP-R!

Most sequels fall way short of their predecessor. But some are better or as good as the original. I'd have to pick the Empire Strikes Back as best sequel, just miles ahead of A New Hope.

I'd agree with The Empire Strikes Back.

If we're not limited to the only the second movie in 3+ movie series, then I'd also throw in LOTR: Return of the King, although it could be argued whether or not it's a sequel or the third act in one long movie.

As said, they are pretty different films, which is where a lot of people pick preferences.

Alien - Horror
Aliens- Action with some horror

Terminator - Horror / Thriller
Terminator 2 - Action

(no point putting in Sci-Fi 4 times)

+1 to Wrath of Khan and evil dead 2. Amazingly entertaining movies.

I liked toy story 3 more than the first, and way more than the second.
