Yeah, I have mixed emotions about that movie. I liked it when Schultz was in the picture, good chemistry between him and Django. As soon as he left, the whole movie took a nose dive IMO. The script and Mr. Foxx not nearly strong enough to wrap it up solo for me.

It did have a lot of Leone spaghetti western elements in it though. They even tipped the hat to Eastwood by using the "Two Mules For Sister Sarah" theme.

Interestingly, later in that movie when he's leading the manhunt, he switches to a hat very similar to the one he wears in Hang 'Em High.

That scene in the cell with Clint's prowess with a pot on display is a scream.

You know, I had a feeling you were going to mention that hat. Oorah.

Given the OP's criteria for a Spagetti Western, has to be "Once Upon A Time in the West" for me. Followed extremely closely by the "Man With No Name" trilogy. Of those, "For a Few Dollars More" is my favorite; Klaus Kinski as "The Hunchback" confronting Lee Van Cleef is a riot!

That was an almost disturbingly scary portrayal by Kinski. The facial tick was the icing on the cake. The number and depth of colorful characters in those movies was outstanding.

And he tucks his pants into his boots. Sissy.

Seriously, this film had all the feel and look of the Man With No Name trilogy, but it just wasn't as engaging. I didn't find Fonda all that intimidating or menacing at all.

And I find that harmonica riff annoying as hell.
