The Man with No name without a doubt...as epic of a spaghetti western trilogy as it could get.

Regarding American westerns, my favorites would be the Magnificent Seven, the Searchers...and when I want some Dino, Rio Bravo

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is not just one of the best Westerns of all time, but one of the best films, period! And obviously, my favorite.

After that I would say "Once Upon A Time In The West". These two films are on completely different levels than any of the Italian westerns of the period.

Including non-Italian Westerns possibly influenced by them, definitely "Unforgiven".

"The Outlaw Josey Wales" is one of my favorites but I don't feel it was influenced by Spaghetti Westerns.

It did have a lot of Leone spaghetti western elements in it though. They even tipped the hat to Eastwood by using the "Two Mules For Sister Sarah" theme.

You guys do realize Tarantino's film was called "Django Unchained" and there was an Italian Western from 1966 called "Django" which I'm sure is the one in the poll.

The Trilogy was indeed shot in Italy (and Germany and Spain). And many of the actors are Italian and delivered many of their lines in that language (also Spanish and German speaking actors). I guess the language barrier could get pretty bad on the sets, with Eastwood kind of spearheading the direction the Man With No Name should take.

"A Fistful of Dynamite" - AKA "Duck You Sucker"

Rod Steiger and James Coburn are amazing. I love the musical theme ("Sean, Sean...." or "Juan, Juan...." depending on the character).

"Hoooooo-kayyyyy!"

Also, I'll +1 on "A fistful of Travellers Cheques"

Hang 'Em High For A Few Dollars More Than A Fistful.

Hate to drag this thread On-Topic - but there's a great collection of Enno Morricone tunes (with him conducting, IIRC) performed by YoYo Ma. Liked the regular CD so much I bought the SA/CD too. Good stuff.

Well. I hope I can keep this post short, but for me there is no comparison. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is a masterpiece. The soundtrack, the foley, the direction, the acting is just levels above any of the others. Blondie is an awesome protagonist, Angel Eyes is a ruthless villian, and Tuco is a great unscrupulous crook. It's a story that tells about a decent into hell chasing a mythical bag of gold. They end up digging up graves looking for it. It's dark.

So here is my tribute to it. I see Blondie as the good. Angel Eyes as the bad. and Tuco as the ugly. So this song is broken into three parts each is a tribute to each one in that order while trying to retell the story in a dub influenced dark country stomp. Enjoy. :)

Inspired by this awesome thread of going down memory lane of great movies here's a spaghetti western kind of rock thing I did today...

All Danelectro sound on guitars and the bass which is a fretless jazz loaded with armstrong lipsticks.
