Hi all! The time has come for me to replace the strings on my '73 jazz bass. I love the ones that were on it when I got it, but I have no idea what they are! (Don't you hate that?)
I've used nickel round wound labellas on my other basses for years, but they only make them for long scale basses these days, which works great for my other fretted bass, but I'd love your suggestions on a new go-to for this one. Other nickels I've tried have just not had the same balance.
I'd like something clear and punchy while not being super bright and that have some decent sustain in them, and that of course brings out that incredible quality this era of jazz basses possess... Basically some well rounded strings that cut through but are complex enough to carry a lot of those lower harmonics. A laundry list, I know, but I'm certain this community of all places can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!
