Man, this finish is beautiful. It bums me out that they charge an extra $1000 for a different finish, but they do sell them all. Imagine the reaction if Fender tried to charge that much of a premium.

Rickenbacker 4003s Midnight Purple

Yeah, that is some mighty expensive paint! I like the skinnier new horns myself, so that’s what I used on all my builds so far, but my 78’ 4001 had the thicker ones, and I liked it just fine at the time. Gorgeous dark purple 4003, nice looking grain on the board too.
Reminds me of when the local soft ice cream stand (The Big Dipper in Apalachin) offers half and half "twists" with Dole Black Raspberry and Vanilla (though I actually prefer it twisted with Chocolate instead - so can someone photoshop in a black pg? hehe).
I think an Ivory (not "cream") PG would look great over that purple too. Pickguardian has the templates for nearly every Ric variant, and does a very nice job of it, but not cheap! You can get black PG's and TRC's cheap on Aliexpress, but no guarantee of a perfect fit on the PG's. The TRC's are actually pretty good.
