Favorite Type of tone cap.

I'm not a bleeding crusader or tilting at windmills, but it does bug me how much false information is out there & it's what people soak up when they don't have time (or be bothered) to really educate themselves.

You can only do so much. I try to share what I know. If someone chooses to disagree or ignore it, then so be it. All my observations and suggestions (I don’t offer advice) are offered gratis and as is. I’m not a crusader when it comes to something as inconsequential as bass guitar. I stopped tilting at windmills ages ago. And I became a lot happier for doing so.

That's the reason I ask the questions I do... Lol.. Even if it's silly.. A lot of truth comes out of it.. I find fun in that..

I’ve noticed that discussions regarding tone cap construction are infrequent at TB.



Tell our skinny 6-string brethren that. Ever go to a Les Paul forum irt tone caps? They’ll argue for days over it, pio vs whatever...

...and pay through the nose for them too. You ever see how much people will pay for NOS bumblebee PiO tone caps to put in their $8000 Custom Shop Les Paul that they will never take out of its case let alone the house? And all these 60+ year old guys with decades of hearing loss from turning their Marshalls up to 11 to get 'their tone man!' will swear up and down they can hear the difference.

Yeah I know eh? To get their tone running through a ton of phasey reverb with no mids.

I've pretty much.. I'm prolly just getting a Mylar .022nf orange/green cap.. But with a little higher voltage so I don't melt it.. Lead solder.. Lol

22 nF = 0.022 μF
Don't get higher-Voltage, it won't matter.

I got a geezer butler and a Wilde p-46.. This would go with the Wilde p46.. As the geezer is solderless.. I don't know how to mod it except buy parts from emg..
