There's some kinda homemade-looking Explorer 5-string at one of my local shops that has ugly paint and seems thick and chunky in its build, but the coupla times I've tried it there's just sump'n about it that gives me a giggle...would love to take it home and refurbish it into something a little more graceful and a lot prettier!

An '82/83 Guild X-702 that I used to own several years ago. Phenomenal instrument, but the neck profile wasn't suited for my ageing/ailing hands so off it went...

Pretty rare bird, there. Don't recall ever seeing one for sale. As wild as it looks, that upper horn surely balanced better than its stubby sibling B-302. One thing I can say about the B-300 series basses...those bigass Guild pickups were a match for even G&L's big singles on the early SB and Lynx basses.
