Favourite Lyric Line?

Janie said when she was just five years old - there ain't nothing going down at all
Two tv sets, two Cadillac cars ain't doing nothing for us at all
then one fine morning she turned on a new York station
couldn't believe what she heard at all
She started dancing to that fine fine music
her iife was changed by rock & roll...rock & roll
Lou Reed -"Rock & Roll"

Shallow your cares, in vain your industry
So says the wide blue sea
I never burden God on your account
Don’t waste your prayers on me

"I'll Trade You Money For Wine" Robbie Fulks (Pronounced folks)

Now there's only two things in life
But I forget what they are
It seems we're either hangin' on a moonbeam's coattails
Or wishing on stars

Just when you think that you've been gyped
The bearded lady comes and does a double back flip
And you run off and join the circus
Yeah you just let that pony ride

"And the muscular cyborg German dudes dance with sexy French Canadians
While the overweight Americans wear their patriotic jumpsuits" (Wheels, CAKE)

"Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?" (Eleanor Rigby, The Beatles) The imagery on that line is just haunting to me.

"I'm good at repairs, and I'm under each snare." (Clint Eastwood, Gorillaz)

"And the Christians gave me comic books as if I would be scared
of burning in Hell, well I was already there." (The Beer, Kimya Dawson)

"one good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain"
bob marley

My favorite appears below:
While the firelight's aglow, strange shadows in the flames will grow, 'til things we've never seen, will seem familiar.

All of "Lady With A Fan" is great, this part of it is a particular fave of mine:

Eyes alight with glowing hair
all that fancy paints as fair
she takes her fan and throws it
in the lion's den

"Which of you to gain me, tell
will risk uncertain pains of Hell?
I will not forgive you
if you will not take the chance"

The sailor gave at least a try
the soldier being much too wise
strategy was his strength
and not disaster

The sailor coming out again
the lady fairly lept at him
that's how it stands today
you decide if he was wise

Too hard to have one favorite, a current is this, from Joe Strummer of The Clash:

'n every gimmick hungry yob digging gold from rock 'n roll,
Grabs the mike to tell us he'll die before he's sold,
But I believe in this and it's been tested by research,
He, who f**ks nuns, will later join the church.

They say that these are not the best of times,
But they're the only times I've ever known,
And I believe there is a time for meditation in cathedrals of our own.
Now I have seen that sad surrender in my lover's eyes,
And I can only stand apart and sympathize.
For we are always what our situations hand us...

It's either sadness or euphoria.

And so we argue and we compromise, and realize, that nothing's ever changed.
For all our mutual experience, our separate conclusions are the same.
Now we are forced to recognize our inhumanity,
Our reason co-exists with our insanity.
And though we choose between reality and madness...

It's either sadness or euphoria.

How thoughtlessly we dissipate our energies
Perhaps we don't fulfill each others fantasies.
And so we'll stand upon the ledges of our lives,
With our respective similarities...

It's either sadness or euphoria.

Well, the eggs chase the bacon round the fryin' pan
and the whinin' dog pigeons by the steeple bell rope
and the dogs tipped the garbage pails over last night
and there's always construction work bothering you

in the neighborhood

Well, Friday's a funeral and Saturday's a bride
and Sey's got a pistol on the register side
and the goddam delivery trucks, they make too much noise
and we don't get our butter delivered no more

in the neighborhood

Well, Big Mambo's kickin' his old greyhound
and the kids can't get ice cream, cause the market burned down
and the newspaper sleeping bags blow down the lane
and that goddam flatbed's got me pinned in again

in the neighborhood

There's a couple Filipina girls gigglin' by the church
and the window is busted and the landlord ain't home
and Butch joined the army, yeah, that's where he's been
and the jackhammer's digging up the sidewalks again

in the neighborhood

Back and forth up and down
I feel my way around
Finding everything but you
My view of you has grown soft
Got grace but something’s lost
It’s probably the truth

I’m candy coated salt and I’m a dimming light
My fuzzy logic is skewed confusing wrong with right

Throw me a line I’m sinking down
Submerging further, further from you
But I’m doing fine making my way
Further and further
Further from you

Black or white hard to tell
Grey’s a much easier sell
And you give it away for free
So watered down homogenized
That the truth becomes the lie
That you’re starting to believe

I’m candy coated salt, I find it bittersweet
The lack of comfort when not everybody agrees
