FDeck HPF-Pre Series 3 question.

I like the idea of being able to power the FDeck HPF Pre-Series 3 via battery OR wall adapter, where as the pedal board friendly Series 3 “mini” is adapter only.
But I haven’t seen any pictures of the unit to determine form factor. I believe it’s intended to just be placed on top of your cab or amp and that I don’t mind.
Questions:
What are the dimensions of the HPF Pre-Series 3 ?
I’m assuming either one of these models are the preferred FDeck models for electric bass,am I correct?
Does anyone have any experience , preferences, or input with either ?

I've used the "standard" Series 3 for years - well before the "mini" was an option. Absolutely no functional complaints. But the in/out configuration can be a bit odd, which is the only reason I'd ever consider the mini. I use mine in the FX loop of my amp and it is physically placed on my pedal board. In my application, I use it to limit cone excursion (and potential damage from pushing tons of lows) and to make my amp more efficient by not having to reproduce subs that don't get heard anyway. It's been perfect for that.

I have a series 1(batt only, long life, pretty small)that I run in FX loop, sits on top. Don't have to run power up there. I have a powered unit on my board when I use pedals(I don't most of the time), board plugs in front. Pedal unit is a H/LPF.

Can't provide dimensions, sorry. But I have used the series 1 for years now. I actually modded mine so I could run it underneath my board. It's lived there since I did that. I use the battery clip adapter. I believe I dremeled a slot out of the side the battery would sit in so I could get the battery adapter clip to come through while the battery door is snapped on. If that makes sense. I use mine like @kleinenenten does.

Do the powerless HPF’s like the Gob Small Fi passive hpf work as effectively?

Series 3 is 140 x 60 x 31 mm, including the knobs.

Series 3 Mini is 100 x 60 x 45 mm tall.

The "Mini" guts could be built into the bigger box, which would leave space for a battery.

In addition to the benefits you've listed, a variable hpf is the first tweak I usually make to accommodate each venue's acoustics. This features has become so important to me, now, that I sometimes wonder how I got by without one during the 20th century.

I power a Series 3 Mini with a Noble preamp. Simple configuration, works great.

I don't like attaching things to my upright so I just set the HPF on top of my amp. Works fine.

That was my original motivation, since I was coming from the upright bass world, rather than the pedalboard world.

Try using a variable hpf to cut the very lowest frequencies while simultaneously boosting the bass EQ to increase punchiness; works at home and on gigs.
