fEARful™ Part Twelve (12)

Hey, how'd you get your P-touch to print like that? I think all mine does is "normal font." Maybe I need to RTFM? Looks great!

It is the P-Touch PC that connects like a regular printer to the pc. I used the one at work that has some "P-Touch Editor 3.2" software. It allowed me to select lots of different fonts. Then I just used the white on clear cartridge.

I went ahead and labeled my jack plate last night. It has a Blade Runner vibe to it. They are just Brother P-Touch labels. The camera flash shows all the imperfections but they look better in person and you don't see all the clear around the letters as much. I know my "Tweeter Level" sticker is a bit crooked. It was tough to get it straight with such a small sticker down in that gap. Also, if I could have made Greenboy actually green I would have.
Looks good.

Minor nit: the unit of resistance, because it is the surname of an actual person, is capitalized. (Ohm, Volt, Ampere, second, meter, liter).

Hi,

I was having a heck of a time finding what I wanted through searching through the many many threads... So I figured It would be quicker to ask!

I'm considering having SHO bass build me a fEARful... Anyone here delt with SHO bass in the past? How was your experience?

Thanks!

I havent had anything built by SHO / Dekker, but I have emailed him a couple times about a 12/6. He is very thorough and precise in in his emails and seems like a very nice guy to deal with.

Well, my fEarful 15/6 is finally together and making sound! Unfortunately, there's a mild distortion coming from somewhere that I'll need to track down. It's not horrible, and I'd gig the cab tomorrow without worrying too much about it, but I know it's not supposed to be there at all...

So, I'm going to open it up probably this weekend and check:
a) the wiring
b) mid range chamber stuffing (my dad did this step without me present)

Any other suggestions? The cab is built as close to spec as I could manage, except I used 1/4" jacks instead of Speakon.

I'm running it with my Ampeg SVT 3PRO, as it's the only amp I have working at the moment that will handle an 8 ohm load.

Double check your xover wiring and all your solder/crimp/spade connections - make sure you got sealer tape under the mid/jack plate/handles. Check for a leaky jack - if you have an open 1/4" try sticking a squishy earplug in it... hot glue on the backside of leaky speakons can help.

First coat of Duratex went on last night. It's starting to look good...at least to me. ;)

In this pic you can see the rough parts on the side from the Bondo filler not sanded completely down. This was my first time working with Bondo and, man, does that stuff set quickly. I started on that side and got a bit too much on. I thought I had sanded it enough to not show much behind the duratex but the light color shows it. With a couple more thick coats and the hardware in place it will not be as noticeable.

Sweet!!
I'm digging the orange/white combination you got going on! (with orange you can't go wrong of course, it's our national color here in The Netherlands ;))

Well, it's pretty much like the national colors here in East Tennessee. ;) I'm a huge Tennessee Vols fan so this cab will be perfect. I always thought I would feel right at home in The Netherlands with all of the orange going on. :D

Bardley, I don't know why, but that cab is making me hungry.

I love alternate colour schemes!

Does it make you want a creamsicle? LOL
