fEarful 12/6 build by blakelock

Thanks for the reply. Quick question about using HO speakers instead. How well can they handle tuning down to C?

The main frequency you need to care about for C is in the 60hz range...the 3012HO is just as sensitive as the 3012LF there, possibly a little moreso.

There's less excursion, so you can't get quite as loud.

Below 60hz, the 3012LF really takes over in output, and it's also "smoother" up to 1khz or so. By that I mean, the 3012HO is going to be up to 98db or so by 200hz, so it won't sound as loud as the 3012LF down low unless you pull down some eq in the lower mids (and eventually upper mids).

The way I generally see it is that the 3012HO driver has more of a tonal balance like your typical 4x10, with a bit more room to bloom on bottom than two 10" woofers would. So a 2x12 with 3012HOs will be comparable in output to almost any 4x10, but not have any more on bottom really without drastic bass eq.

The 3012LF is another animal. Crossed over propery it'll be smooth and even with a lot of low end extension.
