Many of US corporate decisions are based on long range forecasts just this side of this quarter. They don't include, "what state will this company be in for my kids, or what air or clean water will my kids have?"

fEARful 12/6 - Ceramic instead of Neodymium?

This has been a pretty selfish couple of generations....to the point where our kids and grandkids may not have the standard of living we do. You're supposed to want your kids to have it a little better than you did but that's been turned upside down somewhere along the way.
That has to occur naturally sometimes though. Look at some long history family companies. Grandpa worked his butt off and built something good, son who grew up watching him work his butt off all those years takes that attitude and continues building it even bigger and better. Then spoiled grandson who doesn't know what it's like to have to do without gets it, screws it all up and the process starts over.

Can't remember where but I have seen a couple high end ceramics that have this kind of displacement with good sensitivity but still not quite that of the kappalites. Check McCauly, 18sound, maybe Caire not sure.
Then again at those prices it'd probably still make sense to buy the neo.
I missed this question/reply in another of the mega threads but what happens if down the road someone blows their 3015LF in a 3 way cab, fEarful, nEarful, TB153, etc. Is that just a dead cab now based on its' quite specific design?

Worse, it was a short-sighted strategic decision on the part of the West. It was also a strategic decision for China to cut off its neodymium and dysprosium exports. Economics and audio aside, we're talking about strategic materials here.

I know no one can predict the future but you seem to have an eye on the industry...
When you say "temporary" are you thinking months or years?
I might be in the financial situation to take on a fEARful project around the middle of next year. If the magnet situation is better by then it would be serendipitous.

There's so much money to be made here that domestic mines should be on the fast track right now, with manufacturing shortly to follow. BTW, speaker magnets are hardly even a blip on the neo radar. A hybrid car uses more neo than a dozen drivers, and a wind turbine more than 1400. But right now the neo cupboards are bare.
