Fearful Part 14: one better than 13!

Related question - I want to get a good-quality eq to shape what goes into my fEARful, so if I want the sound of a traditional honky or low-mid-bump cabinet, I can simulate that. Something with presets would be really nice. Something small on my pedalboard would be even nicer. What's out there that I should be looking at?

No. Maybe... No

Stick to the plan. Or at least start there.

You can get whatever sound you want out of these cabs, just put that sound in.

Sticking to the plan will get you a whole new ball game. You will likely be very happy with the result.

I would add that onboard EQs and outboard effects will take on an ENTIRELY new dimension through Fearfuls built according to plan. Driver experimentation like you propose would be like putting a new 'Vette on tires taken from '89 Tercel.

Plenty of options out there to get you some adjustable dirt if you want it on occasion (I keep a Sansamp BDDI around for this very purpose).

But the by-design "blank slate" nature of these things means you can take out - or put in - MASSIVE nuance if you are so equipped with the equipment.

It's WAY fun to dial in sounds now that knob twisting actually does something to the tone!

I have a source audio mwbd pro, it has a programmable 7 band graphic in it that works well. they have a new eq only pedal that might be right up your alley, if you're looking for a pedal.

The [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] does it for me. It's small, lightweight, built like a tank, and provides comprehensive EQ capabilities. I don't leave home without it.

I'd say you need a minimum of 7 bands. I'd prefer a 31 band rack mount myself. If you're using a rack, they can be picked up pretty cheap.

I'm not using a rack, I would really like something I can stick on my pedalboard. Is the Empress or something similar a good way to go? I believe it's 3 parametric bands.

EDIT: Ukiah Bass, you beat me to it! How easy is this guy to dial in on the gig?

EQing takes just a few seconds. Look at the Empress ParaEQ site and watch the video. This works like any other EQ. It also has "Q" settings that allow you to tweak with precision. The ParaEQ manual explains how. Read the site's collateral.

Doesn't have presets but I'd recommend an SVT.

:D

Kidding, but only sort of.
