Today I finished a few things in my diy fearful cab. I put in the 3012LF and the eminence pxb2 800 crossover. I don't have my alpha 6a yet so I didn't hook that up of course. I had a 1/4" jack laying around so I hooked that up to see how it sounded. It sounded pretty good until I hit the E string and there was a crackling sound and it seemed to fade in and out a bit. It made this sound throughout the E string and some of the lower A string notes. It was like it would crackle when the speaker had motion. I made sure all of the + and - were correct and the solder joints were ok.
Would I have problems if I didn't have the 6a hooked up to the crossover?
My other thoughts would be simply that the speaker or the crossover are defective.
Any help would be appreciative.
Thanks
