Music instruments are always highlighted as a big use for hardwoods that are being logged to extinction. Wasn't there a thread here a while ago about luthiers warning that rosewood was soon going to be impossible to get?

So Gibson, by itself, might be small potatoes, but that doesn't give them a pass.

You shouldnt believe everything people say just because they said it. If they find illegal protected woods in the factory, a fine will be the least of Gibsons problems.

I'm sure Mr. Bucyphylus believes CNN, MessBC, and Air America (rip), are credible non-bias sources of news without an agenda, but, back to the threads, 'Non Political' (LOL) Subject.

'Last year, Dick Boakof artist relations for C.F. Martin & Co., complained to Mother Nature News about the difficulty of getting elite guitarists to switch to instruments made from sustainable materials'. "Surprisingly, musicians, who represent some of the most savvy, ecologically minded people around, are resistant to anything about changing the tone of their guitars," he said.

On a related subject, I'm pretty sure it was Ted Kennedy (rip) who sang the praises of green energy, but fought tooth and nail when they considered putting Energy producing Windmills near HIS house in Martha's Vineyard.

It's not the RULE OF LAW about which to worry - it's the SPIRIT in which it is founded and then so blissfully ignored or falsely accused and rendered moot.

With it's Gibson subsidiaries, they are wide open for all kinds of machinations from the law I feel:::

It's just a good thing they aren't based in California!

Still - grandfathered ex post facto guitars and instruments should be exempt just as the scrimshaw of endangered species is now.

Too bad that the Feds aren't going after loud drum heads. Aren't they an endangered species? I'd like to hope so anyway.

And, then suddenly I am associated with CNN etc? Give me a break, you guys got out of the wrong side of bed with an axe to grind.

All I basically said was that you have to be really careful with checking your facts vs what gets reported. Its called Freedom of the Press. Always has been this way.

Yes, don't doubt the Feds raided Gibson. That part is news. Prognostications that musicians are suddenly going to have their instruments confiscated is an opinion.

My comments about recent judicial dynamics are fact, not politics, and should concern all Americans, political leanings notwithstanding. Ipso facto non-political statement.

Go grind your axes elsewhere.
