Right. What makes me choose Eich tactile transducers over products from Porter and Davies is the fact that I can use my bass amp with Eich...
My understanding is that one needs to buy the P/D engine to feed their products...
You can use your bass amp or their engine. The BC line needs their engine. The TT and KT lines use a bass or regular power amp. It seems like Eich makes better boards to stand on and Porter and Davies make better drumming thrones.
I don’t have a bass amp head. I’m trying to decide if I should by an amp head and drumming throne or the Porter and Davies that comes with the amp.
What size amp do you use with your bassboard?

I havent had the possibility to compare them...but it makes sense based on history of either brand's product line. AFAIK, Eich started with bassboards (Pleasureboards under the Tecamp brand name) and Porter and Davies originally started with thrones...and added the KT platforms later on..I think...
I would go with simple class D bass amp because of flexibility-it can serve in two roles (to feed throne/bassboard and to feed bass cab).
I am using Markbass Little Mark III. Even smaller (less powerful) amp would suffice, IME.
How is the quality of the headphone output and aux on the backbeat? This looks like it could be useful for traveling, just the backbeat, a clip on tuner, and some in ears.
I tried the Vox amplug, but the sound quality was poopie, then got the darkglass element, the sound quality of the element is much better than the amplug.
I don’t use the headphone output often. But when I do, I like it.
I haven’t used the aux input at all.
I'm putting around 300 watts into mine. I use a Jay Ganz Straight Ahead amp that is attached to my pedalboard, and at 4x6" and weighing a little over a pound there isn't anything smaller out there with 500w at 4ohms on tap to my knowledge. His newest model is 5x7" and I still don't think you can find something smaller. I initially tried my Bassboard with a Trace Elliot ELF, but you could feel the compressor/limiter kick in and it wasn't pleasant. Jay's amp has been bulletproof for 2-1/2 years of many, many hours of practice and gig use.
How loud is the Eich board? If you were using it in my living room would I be able to hear it while I read a book for example? I'm curious for purposes of late night practicing in a room next to my wife. I also noticed the Backbeat makes quite a racket. At a really small pub gig people in the front can hear it. 
Yes, you would be able to hear it.
Furthermore, it would vibrate the floor-especially if the floor is made from wood or similar materials. Concrete floor covered with carpets should be fine, though...
IMO, BackBeat or Eich drumchair would be a better choice for late-night practicing...
